St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is a growing and thriving parish community. We are bound by fervent faith that reflects a commitment to Catholic presence in our local community. God has richly blessed our faith community with good stewards and faithful servants to do His work. There are many ministries within the parish that serve to build up the Kingdom of God in our little corner of the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
The Catholic community of St. John the Baptist serves parishioners and others within Lisbon, Mount Vernon, and rural Cedar Rapids, Ely. The parish has a membership of approximately 440 households or about 1,320 souls and keeps growing. We worship together at Holy Mass each weekend on Sundays at 8:00 a.m. We also have two weekday Masses each Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. If you are interested in joining St. John’s, you may contact our office or fill out the registration form here.
Adoration is held the first and third Wednesday of the month from 7 to 9 pm, and on the First Fridays of the month after the 8:30 am Mass.
Faith Formation is held during the school year for students in grades PreK-12. In addition to our Eucharistic life and religious formation, the parish offers activities throughout the year. The parish is a flourishing and vibrant Catholic faith community, grounded in the Mission of Christ.
The parish respectfully honors and thanks all priests who have labored in the parish over the years. On July 14, 2019 we welcomed Rev. Andrew Awotwe-Mensah as our new resident priest and pastor to our parish community.
You are welcome to join us in person for Mass or Adoration.

Peace and blessings be with you!
We, the people of the Catholic community of St. John the Baptist, gather as a Eucharist-centered community.
We are charged, by our baptism in Christ, to worship, live and share the word of God in holiness.
We are called to lifelong faith formation. We are committed to the loving service of all God’s creation through acts of mercy, justice and stewardship.
